ISTEP + Information - March 1st - 10th

ISTEP is NEXT WEEK! The ISTEP begins March 1 and ends on March 10. Some tips to help your child do their best are:
1. Make sure they go to bed on time.
2. Have them eat breakfast.
3. Encourage them to do their best.
4. Be positive about the test.
5. If your child is on medication, make sure they are taking it regularly.

Remember, ISTEP + has changed the format from previous years. Next week they will be taking the applied skills portion of the test. This portion will have open ended questions in math, reading, and language arts. Students will be asked to write a response to a prompt. The multiple choice section on the test will be given on April 26th through May 5th.

Hats for Haiti




The Student Council is sponsoring hats for Haiti tomorrow and next Friday (2-26-10). Students can wear a hat for 50 cents. The proceeds will go to help Haiti.

2-20-10 Linton Boys at Worthington Tournament

The Linton Miners 5th grade boys basketball team won the Worthington Tournament this weekend by beating Dugger 32 -23 and then beating Shakamak in the championship game 39-34. The 1st game the Miners were led in scoring by Austin Allen with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Avery Gentry led the team in rebounds with 5 and added 4 points. Josh Dieball scored 6 points and pulled down 4 rebounds while Justin Rippy had 6 points and 1 rebound.Tyler Meurer scored 4 points and 1 rebound while Trey Passen had 2 points . Kendall Williams and Cody Corbin pulled down 2 rebounds each while Cody Nelson had 1 rebound. The Championship game the Miners were led in Rebounding by Tyler Meurer with 5 rebounds and scored 10 points. Josh Dieball Scored 10 points and had 3 rebounds. Trey Passen had 8 points and 2 rebounds while Kendall Williams scored 6 points and pulled down 3 rebounds. Austin Allen added 3 points and 1 rebound while Avery Gentry had 2 points and 4 rebounds.

Linton Boys 6th grade won the first game at White River Valley-Worthington Tournament against Union-Dugger 52 to 25 on Saturday. They were paced in scoring by Joe Diball (12 points), Pierce Jackson (10 points), Mitchell Eberhardt (8 points), Nick Wisniewski (7 points), Janzen Franklin (5 points), Jacob Gregory (4 points), Jacob Clothier, Devin Collenbaugh and Riley Cobble (2 points each).


Linton Boys 6th grade won the championship game at White River Valley-Worthington Tournament against White River Valley-Worthington 47 to 17 on Saturday. They were paced in scoring by Mitchell Eberhardt (17 points), Joe Diball (11 points), Nick Wisniewski (6 points), Pierce Jackson (4 points), Jacob Clothier, Devin Collenbaugh, Damian Turpin, Evan Phipps (2 points each) and Tietje Sachtjen (1 point).

6th Grade Tournament Champions




Linton Boys 6th grade won the first game at Owen Valley High School in the Patricksburg Community Youth Basketball League Tournament against Cloverdale 43 to 24 on Saturday morning. They were paced in scoring by Nick Wisniewski (18 points), Pierce Jackson and Joe Diball (6 points each), Jacob Clothier, Jacob Gregory, Andrew Woods, Ian Fonceca, Evan Phipps, and Braxton Lannan (2 points each) and Michael Thompson (1 point).


Linton Boys 6th grade won the championship game at Owen Valley High School in the Patricksburg Community Youth Basketball League Tournament against Clay City 32 to 22 on Saturday afternoon. They were paced in scoring by Joe Diball (16 points), Pierce Jackson (7 points), Nick Wisniewski (5 points), Jacob Gregory and Zack Phegley (2 points each).

February 8 - 11 Basketball Schedule


2-8-10 Linton Boys vs. Clay City

The Linton 5th grade boys basketball team improved there record to 9-1 with a 35 to 18 win over Clay City. The Miners were led in scoring by Josh Dieball with 12 points and 3 rebounds. Tyler Meurer led the team with rebounds with 6 while adding 11 points. Kendall Williams had 8 points and 4 rebounds while Trey Passen had 4 points and 3 rebounds.Avery Gentry pulled down 3 rebounds while Justin Rippy, Jayden Myers, Kody Nelson and Joshua Hoffman had 1 rebound each.


Linton Boys 6th grade won at home against Clay City 21 to 24 on Monday night. They were paced in scoring by Mitchell Eberhardt (14 points), Pierce Jackson (6 points) and Nick Wisniewski (4 points). The Miners will be back in action at WRV-Worthington Thursday night.

Linton Boys 6th grade won at WRV-Wortington 34 to 20 on Thursday night. They were paced in scoring by Joe Diball (9 points), Nick Wisniewski (6 points), Pierce Jackson and Janzen Franklin (4 points each), Jacob Clothier, Jacob Gregory, Devin Collenbaugh, Zack Phegley and Michael Thompson (2 points each) and Kalen Lawson (1 point). The Miners will be back in action at Owen Valley Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m..

Students in Mrs. Lannan's class were challenged to work together in cooperative teams and see who could build the tallest tower with the same amount of materials. This was a great opportunity for students to problem solve, communicate, and cooperate with each other.
