Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Drive

For several years, students at Linton-Stockton Elementary have had a pop tab drive for the Ronald McDonald House. This year we have had a great drive with collecting over 600 pounds of pop tabs.

The top three classes this year were Mrs. J. Irish's room with collecting 40 pounds of tabs, Mrs. Miller's class just behind them with 39 pounds, and Mr. Wade's class with 35 pounds. We want to thank everyone that helped our pop tab drive.

We want to give a special thanks to Mrs. Landis for sponsoring our pop tab drive.

Mr. Brewer completes IPLA Training

I have spent the last two years attending the Indiana Principal Leadership Adademy to help myself become a better principal and leader. I want to thank Linton-Stockton School Corporation and Linton Elementary Staff for supporting me while I attended this training.

Here is a brief explanation of the academy. Indiana Principal Leadership Academy (IPLA) was founded in 1985. The IPLA was created to be a national training model for principals, as leaders of instructors, empowered with effective behaviors and practices. The academy's focus is on four proficiencies: (1) leadership; (2) communication; (3) culture; and (4) school programs.

The picture above is a group of principals from around Indiana that were members of my study team. We posed for this picture after our graduation.

6th Grade Skyping with Roland Smith

Sixth-grade students at Linton-Stockton Elementary got to Skype with author Roland Smith. Students have read various books written by Mr. Smith this year. This allowed students to ask questions and speak directly to this famous author. Mr. Smith shared that he wanted to be a writer beginning at age five when his parents gave him a typewriter as a birthday gift. He gave students the advice to persevere when they are stuck on a particular piece of writing. He shared that he writes about topics that interest him. Some of his books have a spy theme which really interest students. He says that he also writes about topics on which he has a great amount of knowledge. Students enjoyed their visit with this engaging author.

Play 30 Winners

We had several students meet the criteria this month for exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. Sailor Myers, Ben Burris, and Andrew Woods met the Play 30 requirements and were the lucky winners for the Play 30 drawing.
